Got involved in my first ever twitter tweet today and helped launch an email campaign via In Touch, which instantly generates statistics such as whose read the email and whose clicked on the links within it.

Today I got involved in a new project for one of the agencies big clients. I had to design the concept wire frames and layout for two brochures they required. One was to have a very corporate feel and the other which was to be aimed at at a more retail base was to have a more informal feel. I started off by looking at a number of different magazines to get some ideas of different layouts and see what I thought would work best for the two different flyers. One of the main things I picked up on was the way many magazine articles draw out important points and grab the readers attention to certain parts of the text by enlarging certain quotes within the text or by creating colour blocks to highlight particular points. This is something that I really liked and wanted to transfer into my layouts. I also had to hunt down some appropriate images for the two flyers, which was easier said than done! I wanted images that the clientèle could relate to and that reflected their lifestyles. I knew the images I wanted and it was frustrating not being able to find them, I really wanted to be able to go out and take photos so I could create the image I had in my head. Unfortunately there wasn't the budget for this, so I carried on trawling through images! Finally after some time I hit the jackpot and found what I was looking for. It was actually quite an interesting exercise because it highlighted the importance of images and the way semiotics works.

With my dissertation deadline just around the corner I wasn't supposed to be working for a few more weeks however I got a last minute call from Ed asking me to come in today and provide an extra pair of hands for what was set to be a rather hectic day with numerous clients coming in and out of the office.

The morning was spent sitting in on a meeting with a client. The afternoon was spent developing a blog for the client which would be linked up to their website. The twist with this blog though was that rather than it being a formal, corporate style blog this blog was to feature the company's 'mascot.' The blog features boyfriend and girlfriend teddy bears and documents their travels across the world. The whole thing is a bit of fun to try and give an extra dimension to the client's personsa.

Went to the dogs this evening. It took me a while to get used to all the betting terms but I soon got the hang of it. My only tactic however was to bet on the dog with the best name, my particular favourite being Florida Barbie! We had an amazing buffet that us girls as students took full advantage of, even taking a doggie bag home at the end. It was a great night with the opportunity to meet more clients and put a face to a name.
